Amid the rapid development of global smart healthcare, structuring medical data and ensuring vocabulary consistency are crucial foundations for improving data interoperability and enabling AI applications. The Ministry of Health and Welfare organized the 'SNOMED CT Taiwan 2025' conference to address this challenge. International experts from SNOMED International were invited to share best practices and experiences in promoting clinical vocabulary standards. A high-ranking official stated the ministry's commitment to establishing a systematic governance framework for SNOMED CT, including professional training and practical application across various healthcare levels. The conference featured morning sessions with international speakers discussing topics like 'The Value of Common Clinical Language for Health' and 'Use of SNOMED CT in AI and Health Data Analytics,' providing deep insights into global standardization trends. Afternoon workshops allowed participants to practically experience the value of standard vocabulary in data retrieval, analysis, and cross-system integration. Furthermore, local case studies were presented on implementing SNOMED CT in Taiwan's medical field, covering areas from expanding clinical and imaging terminology to standardizing electronic health records. The Ministry emphasized that SNOMED CT serves as a critical bridge connecting electronic health records with smart applications, ensuring semantic consistency and readability of medical data across different systems.
