In a case presented, a 67-year-old female patient undergoing long-term dialysis for chronic kidney failure faced severe osteoporosis and microfracture risks due to persistent rickets syndrome following parathyroidectomy. The team utilized an AI-CXR bone density prediction system to analyze chest X-rays, identifying low T-scores and poor bone density. Based on this data, personalized treatment—combining the latest dual-acting bisphosphonate drugs with nutritional supplements—was implemented, leading to the patient's complete disappearance of bone pain and significant improvement in quality of life. Hsu noted that the system not only enhances care efficiency but also features six key aspects: smart dialysis management, cross-platform information integration, and quality monitoring. Crucially, it supports FHIR validation and international HL7 data exchange standards (for the US market), symbolizing Taiwan's achievement in global smart healthcare. This marks Taiwan's first attempt to integrate AI digital decision-making with dialysis care in a clinical setting.
