The course, 'Health Data Standards (FHIR, HL7, SNOMED CT),' is a required subject for CMIO students pursuing expertise in medical informatics. Learning objectives require participants to distinguish between syntactic interoperability (HL7 v2/CDA/FHIR) and semantic interoperability (SNOMED CT), explaining how their combination enables safe and scalable data exchange. The curriculum covers the evolution from HL7, positioning FHIR as a modern standard. Core concepts include FHIR essentials—resources, REST operations, profiles/IGs, capability statements, and versioning.
