Taiwan's AI Adoption: NDC Highlights Achievements of Ten Major Infrastructure Projects

According to the NDC, the government has accelerated the application of AI technologies in public services, citing the Public Sector AI Playbook published by the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA). Significant progress is noted in the medical field. The Ministry of Health and Welfare held the Taiwan SMART 50 competition in April to select innovative Substitutable Medical Applications and Reusable Technologies based on Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (SMART on FHIR) solutions. A specific example is a smart physician order system developed by Yuan Rung Medical Care System. This system automatically identifies doctor-patient conversations and generates medical records by integrating existing patient data, test results, and diagnoses, thereby easing the burden on healthcare personnel. Furthermore, AI is being applied to enhance disaster monitoring and early warning capabilities. The Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Water Resources Agency has deployed flood sensors and an Emergency Management Information Cloud system across Taiwan, while the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Central Weather Administration utilizes AI models from Google LLC and Nvidia Corp. for typhoon path forecasting. The NDC reported that these AI integrations led to a 10 percent decrease in typhoon tracking prediction errors in 2025 compared with the previous year, demonstrating enhanced disaster preparedness. The government plans to continue deepening inter-ministerial cooperation to improve public service quality and overall societal resilience.
