Amidst Taiwan's push for digital transformation to improve medical quality and reduce frontline staff burden, the 'Taiwan 50 Excellent SMART Application' contest was held. This initiative encourages the adoption of international standards like FHIR and SMART. The winning application, developed through a collaboration between Hsinchu NTUH Branch and multiple institutions (including NTUH Main Hospital, Mackay Hospital) and electronics companies, is an AI-assisted decision support technology for sudden sensorineural hearing loss (sudden deafness). It combines clinical practicality with international standard compatibility. According to the hospital's representatives, the system adopts the SMART on FHIR international standard. This allows medical information to be instantly interoperable under secure authorization, eliminating the inconvenience of patients carrying paper records or undergoing redundant tests. Furthermore, it incorporates SHAP technology to enhance AI explainability, achieving 'Responsible AI.' This enables clinicians to clearly understand the timing and key influencing factors for treatment, thereby boosting user trust. Crucially, its full compliance with international standards like FHIR and TW Core IG ensures seamless integration with electronic medical records (EMR), facilitating cross-hospital diffusion and large-scale application. This case serves as a model demonstrating how high-quality healthcare can be delivered by embedding AI support into clinical processes based on global medical data standards.
